Good news everyone!

There you have it, my next big endeavor, the Planet Express Building:

I've wanted to create this building for quite a while, but never felt like taking the time to gather countless screenshots from the show from those having to figure out the floor layouts. It would have just taken too long, time that I could spend working on something else. Thankfully just the other day someone posted very well done blueprints/floor plans of the building on reddit.com/r/futurama. Credit to Michael Mutarelli.

I hope to finish all of the interiors including all the props, maybe even the ship! (That'd probably be a bit too much, but definitely not impossible.) So, I still have to take a lot of screen shots of each room, but placing those props and furniture will be much easier than getting the correct scale and dimensions of the floor plan.

Last but not least, the final step would be to bring it all into Unreal Editor 4, allowing you to walk around and check it all out.

Realistic textures would be fun too.

Stay tuned for a time lapse of this build to see how it's all done... really, really quickly.

A bit more...

Full resolution here.

Instead of a gif, a friend recommended uploading it on sketchfab.com. I'll be loading some more of my models to the site in the future.

Left-click and drag to orbit around, right-click and drag to pan, and scroll wheel to zoom in/out.

There you have it folks. The Painter.

The End

The painting is actually something I did way back in the day. I think I was 15.

The Painter - Final

Head over to my Flickr page to see the textures and download everything at their original 4k resolution (click here). I strongly suggest downloading the diffuse (colored) textures so that you can zoom in real close to see the small details. I worked hard on 'em!

Coming soon turn table gif and close up shots.

What am I doing?

edit: having just re-read this before posting I have noticed that I am not the best at getting my more personal thoughts or ideas in text, so bare with me :)

This entry might be a bit more personal then the others but things have certainly changed in my life that will greatly affect my art. Most significantly is that I dropped out of RIT. It was a big decision that was based simply on that I was not happy there. I recognized that what would make me truly happy was not being worked towards. Oddly enough, that "means of happiness" isn't 3D art or video games. For so long I thought it was, which is why I've been in and out of school, finishing some, all related to the art or video games. Is that really what I want to do? I don't know. What do I want to do? I don't know.

So does this mean I'm giving up on 3D art? Hell no! It remains my passion as do video games, but I realized that those alone would not make me happy, they certainly haven't in the past.
So what next? I'm not too sure and that's ok :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blah blah blah, adult shit, yadda yadda yadda. "What's going on with the painter?" you may ask. Well, I am ashamed to say that I've been avoiding it. Nobody likes doing those last little boring bits. I got new ideas! This chick is good enough right? Well no, but just about. I have decided to scrap the grand plan of having her in her own scene and just render her painting on the easel with some pretty lighting.

What have I been doing instead of polishing the painter? Certainly not video games, of course not!

Here's some stuff:

That eyeball will soon be another character that I'd like to get as anatomically correct as possible. I would like it to be a good base body that I can reuse for different characters without having to build another from scratch, saving me a lot of time. With the base, generic body I "quickly" tweak and sculpt it into a unique character.

Anyway, here's some cool art that inspires me.

I've had these pictures saved on my computer for a while so I don't remember as of these artists or where I got them from. So if you are one of the artists and do not wish to have it displayed here or wish to be given the proper credit, please email me at henryh2956@gmail.com. Thanks! Your work is amazing!
